Ireland is known for its wealth of historic castles and grand houses. Ranging from Norman to Palladian, these buildings are scattered across the island and their history, impressive style and size is always a pleasure to absorb.

Our itinerary covers quite a few counties in Northern Ireland, the midlands and the east, so you can let us know which ones you’d like to take a closer look at. Accommodation and amenities throughout these areas are fine-tuned for both groups and individuals.

This is a looped tour that begins in Belfast city and ends in Dublin City. Belfast has two international airports and a ferry port while Dublin is easily accessed by its international airport or by ferry to Dublin or Dun Laoghaire ports.

On this tour you will visit the following castles and houses:

Hillsborough Castle, Belfast
Begin the day with a trip around this 18th century mansion – it’s the official residence for Queen Elizabeth II in Northern Ireland and the Secretary of State also resides there.

Dunluce Castle, County Antrim
Dunluce Castle is possibly the most dramatic-looking castle on the island as it sits along the Causeway coastline teetering over the Atlantic Ocean.

Glenveagh Castle, County Donegal
Before leaving Derry~Londonderry pay a visit to the Tower Museum where the story and relics of the ill-fated Spanish Armada is an historic highlight . On then to County Donegal and one of the island’s treasures, Glenveagh National Park

Castle Coole, Fermanagh
Wonderfully preserved by the National Trust, Castle Coole is one of Northern Ireland’s finest Neo-classical houses. The remaining original features and décor allow visitors to get a peek at what life was like in the home of the Earls of Belmore.

Strokestown Park, County Roscommon
The elegance of the Georgian Palladian mansion of Strokestown Park presents a fine example of an 18th century house and retains many original fixtures, as well as relics of how lives were led as master and servant in centuries gone by.

Belvedere House and Gardens, County Westmeath
Swing slightly east and you’ll come to Belvedere House and Gardens – one of those Georgian estates with a beautiful façade and an even more fascinating history.

Birr Castle, County Offaly
Birr Castle isn’t open to the public but its award-winning gardens are. Plus the astronomical, photographic and engineering equipment used by inquisitive past owners, including the Great Telescope – once the largest in the world – are on view in all their splendour.

Borris House, County Carlow
Borris House is a gem nestled in the County Carlow countryside. Originally built as a castle, it was remodelled in the 18th century by the famous architectural father and son duo: the Morrisons.

Powerscourt Gardens and Estate, County Wicklow
Next is a spot that offers views of magnificent manicured grounds against the background of the rugged Wicklow Mountains. Welcome to Powerscourt Gardens and Estate .

Castletown House, Kildare
The Guinness family rescued this Palladian house from ruin in the 1960s and it’s been lovingly restored ever since. The guided tours and café are open from March to September.

We will custom build this tour to suit your needs and budget.

All hotels will be 3 star or above.
