The Open will return to the Angus coast next year when the 147th Championship is played at Carnoustie Championship Course.
It will be the eighth time that the Championship has been held over the famous links, most recently in 2007 when Padraig Harrington won the trophy.
Golf has been played at Carnoustie since the early 16th century, and in that time the links have earned a well-deserved reputation as one of the toughest golf destinations in the world.
It’s not just the strong winds which blow along this exposed stretch of the Angus coast; nor the bunkering, which is perfectly positioned to capture anything less than a top-quality shot; but it is also a very long, narrow golf course that, at 7,421 yards, is the longest of any of the Open venues. As Sir Michael Bonallack put it, “When the wind is blowing, it is the toughest golf course in Britain. And when it’s not blowing, it’s probably still the toughest.”
Our package is based in Aberdeen, not far from Carnoustie, and you will travel by train to Carnoustie which takes approx. 70 minutes. Your hotel stay will be in the Doubletree by Hilton City Centre, a twenty minute walk from Aberdeen Rail Station, or you can get a taxi to the station (not included in the price).
Unwind at DoubleTree by Hilton, Aberdeen City Centre. Feel welcomed with a freshly baked, warm DoubleTree chocolate chip cookie on arrival. Situated just seven miles from Aberdeen Airport, one mile from Aberdeen Railway Station and only half-a-mile from the Beach Ballroom venue. This city centre hotel offers convenience and comfort on Aberdeen's beach front.
Enjoy the best of both worlds - staying in Scotland's vibrant city of Aberdeen and experiencing the greatest golf spectacle in the world, The Open at Carnoustie Golf Links!
Included in your package price is:
We can change any of the above, except the dates/hotel, and custom build a package to suit your needs. Why not play on some of the great golf courses in the north of Scotland while you are there? We will book your tee-times for you. Prefer to have a rental car instead of the train? No bother, we will organise this for you.
2019: Royal Portrush Golf Club, Portrush, Northern Ireland. 18th - 21st July - package coming shortly.
