When compiling a list of the top 100 golf courses in the British Isles, it would be all too easy to begin somewhere south-west of London, only to find that the list had been completed before even considering the pressing cases of courses in Ireland, Scotland, Wales and the rest of England.
The list might start with Sunningdale, Wentworth, Swinley Forest, The Berkshire, Camberley Heath, West Hill, Woking and Worplesdon, a mere mile or two apart.
Then there are the world-renowned courses of Woburn to the north-west and Royal St George's, with its near neighbours Prince's and Royal Cinque Ports, to the south-east.
All this only a short journey from London, so golfing can be teamed up with a visit to this exciting city with its wealth of history and culture.
The itinerary below is only a sample. The price will depend on the type of accommodation required. We use 3/4/5 star hotels. Please contact our office for details

Arrive Gatwick/Heathrow airport. Collect hire car and transfer north east. Overnight Sandwich.
Play Royal St George's, in many ways England's premier links and the first course to stage an Open outside Scotland in 1894. Overnight Sandwich or Ashford area.
Play Royal Cinque Ports, a classic links course where the greens have an excellent reputation. Host to the Open in 1909 and 1920. Overnight Sandwich or Ashford area.
Transfer west playing Walton Heath along the way. This course boasts two magnificent heathland courses and has been host to the Ryder Cup and five European Opens. Overnight Ascot area.
Play Sunningdale, not the first course built in Surrey's heath-and-heather belt, but the first great one. Overnight Ascot area.
Play Royal Berkshire, privileged to have two courses (Red and Blue) of equal standing, with little to choose between them in difficulty or charm. Overnight Ascot area.
Play St Georges Hill, a course which many rate as Harry Colt's finest. Where the Red and Blue course impresses is in the variety of the challenges it sets. Overnight Ascot area.
Transfer the Gatwick/Heathrow. Return hire car and check in for return flight.
